That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.

The video show us an interview to a man that owns a company that brings support and tips to people who want to start their own business, for instance: he explains how to take an idea and turn it in to a business, how to manage resources efficiently, and so on.

I want to share this information because I consider very important encourage people to create their own projects and business. Usually in our country, people are not educated to become in an entrepreneur, instead of that, we are raised to be good employees, which is not bad, but sometimes we need support and knowledge to make our dreams come true.

Shark Finning in Costa Rica

Subject:  Environmental Law

Comment:

Costa Rica is famous around the world for its natural resources, biodiversity and ecological politics, we promote our country as one tropical ecological paradise; unfortunately not all what we say is true.

This video show us the serious problem that we have with the lack of environmental education in groups including fishers, people that need natural resources to make a living and communities in general. This problem is the principal reason for situations like shark finning, indiscriminate fishing and the contamination of rivers and oceans.

I think it is important to support that kind of organizations and request the government to take control of the situation, and really punish behaviors that don’t respect our environmental laws.

Comment:

This video presents the testimony of the actress Eva Mendes about how she changed her mind concerning to the animals rights and how she became more aware about animal abuse.

In Costa Rica we have some regulations about the responsible pet ownership, cruelty, and killing of endangered species, however, I consider that it is also important to inform people, in order to consciousness about how to be a responsible owner.
On the other hand, in our country there are several organizations that fight against animal abuse, also they look to provide medical care, food and home to the homeless animals.

So, if you are a PET LOVER, this is a call to action.

Comment:

In order to support the global campaign against smoke, our university seeks to join the list of institutions where smoking is completely banned, for this reason a survey was sent to the entire university community with the purpose to know their opinion about it; at the same time the Legislative Assembly is debating a project to reform the law that allows smoking in public places.

Currently, ¢ 58,000 million are invested each year by the CCSS to manage the diseases associated with consumption of tobacco. In addition to that, people who do not smoke calls their right to a smoke free environment, and their right to go to public places of recreation or eating without having to breathe smoke-clouds that only leads to fatal illness and death.

In contrast to that, smokers ask for their right to choose smoke and have places where they can do it.

So, what it’s your opinion about it?

The Talion Law

Topic:             Young Iranian woman burned with acid.

Subject:          Criminal Law

Coment:

This video shows the history of a Iranian woman that was blinded and disfigured with acid by a man because she turning down his offer of marriage. After that, she was supported by Amnesty International to demand justice, and request punishment for her offender. In the case of Iran, they still have “The Talion Law”, an eye for an eye, wich means that if a person injures another person, receives the same injury in compensation.

I consider important to put this video in order to create awareness about the fact. In some countries women don’t have the same rights than men, consequently they are not judged as equals. But in my opinion is also important to consider that they are a different culture and we cannot measure their laws with parameters of justice or equity that our society has.
